In a near-future dystopia, your digital ID is your life. Without a signal, you are a ghost; with one, you are a slave to total surveillance. Mya, a mixed Black and Asian teenager navigating the neon fringes of society, carries a heavy burden: a cybernetic leg, a cracked radio, and a rebellious spirit that refuses to be logged. Mya’s life takes a radical turn when her tracking device fails, leading her to a meeting that shouldn’t be possible. She encounters Yi Ling, a boy who exists purely as a digital consciousness. After his body was placed in a coma, his mind was uploaded by an underground student resistance movement to keep their secrets alive. Their connection is fragile and forbidden; they can only communicate in the “dead zones” where the system’s eyes cannot reach.
